Pool Chemical Compatibility Guide

v2026.07

Pool chemicals stored and handled incorrectly can react dangerously. This guide shows which products are compatible and which must be kept separate.

Never mix pool chemicals directly. Always pre-dissolve each chemical separately in fresh water and add to the pool at different times and locations.

Notes

  • Always add chemicals to water, not water to chemicals.
  • Wear eye protection and gloves when handling any pool chemical.
  • Store chemicals in original containers with lids tightly sealed.
  • Keep Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS) accessible for all stored chemicals.
