Hot Tub Maintenance

Hot tubs need regular care to stay clean and safe. Use our Chemical Calculator for chlorine and pH dosing.

Daily

• Check chlorine level (target 3–5 ppm for spas).
• Check pH (target 7.2–7.8).
• Add chlorine or pH adjuster as needed.

Weekly

• Test alkalinity and adjust if needed.
• Clean the filter or rinse it according to the manufacturer.
• Wipe the waterline and remove debris.

Monthly

• Drain and refill every 3–4 months (or as recommended).
• Deep-clean the filter.
• Balance water after refill: alkalinity first, then pH, then sanitizer.

After Use

Run the jets for 15–20 minutes after adding chemicals so they circulate. Re-test after 20–30 minutes. For vacation rentals, leave clear instructions and use our Maintenance Checklist for cleaners.
