Filter Pressure

Filter pressure is the water pressure reading on the filter pressure gauge, measured in psi (pounds per square inch).

Typical Values: Baseline: varies by system; Clean threshold: baseline + 0–4 psi; Cleaning needed: baseline + 8–10 psi

In Plain Language

When a filter is clean, it has a baseline pressure. As the filter captures particles and becomes partially clogged, pressure rises. The standard cleaning threshold is 8–10 psi above the clean baseline. An abnormally low pressure can indicate a pump problem or a disconnected filter. An abnormally high pressure indicates a clogged or partially blocked filter.

Why It Matters

Filter pressure is the primary indicator of when the filter needs cleaning. Running a clogged filter reduces water flow and filtration efficiency.
