Indoor Pool
A pool housed inside a building, requiring ventilation management and no CYA.
Definition
Indoor pools present unique challenges: without UV light, chlorine is not degraded and CYA is not needed (and is actually counterproductive in indoor settings). However, chloramines accumulate more noticeably because there is less air movement. Ventilation is critical — pool rooms must exchange air continuously to remove chloramine vapors and prevent moisture damage to the structure. pH tends to rise in indoor pools due to CO₂ off-gassing into enclosed air. Cyanuric acid should not be used in indoor pools.
